Overview

Barcelona’s bodegas are more than wine shops or bars — they are neighborhood institutions where locals gather for a drink, a bite and conversation. On this tour, we’ll follow the city’s urban wine route through some of its most emblematic bodegas, markets and restaurants.

We’ll begin near Mercat de Sant Antoni, exploring ingredients that define bodega culture, from charcuterie and olives to cured and fresh fish. From there, we’ll sip cava before heading into the Raval to visit traditional bodegas, tasting wines poured from the barrel, vermouth and classic tapas.

Along the way, we’ll enjoy cured meats, salted fish, marinated seafood and hearty slow-cooked dishes that reflect Barcelona’s long tradition of preservation and urban cooking. We’ll finish with a curated tasting of essential Catalan wines — part long lunch, part happy hour and a deep dive into one of the city’s most enduring culinary traditions.

Itinerary

  1. El Raval 1h

We will start by dropping into the historic and multicultural El Raval district, first for a carajillo, coffee spiked with Catalan brandy, at an unforgettable neighborhood haunt. From there we’ll make our way to the more upscale bodegas of the San Antoni and Poble Sec neighborhoods.

  2. Centre d'Interpretacio dels Tres Tombs de Sant Andreu 30 min

Here we will take in the history of the neighborhood and its original personality.

  3. Casa Golferichs 30 min

Around this wonderful community center, we will find the best bite.

  4. Mercat De Sant Antoni 1h

Within the beautiful market, we will visit some interesting stalls on our way to a hidden gem for a beverage.

  5. L'Eixample District 1h

During the traditional afternoon “vermouth hour,” we will have our vermut done right, which means served chilled with only an olive as a garnish, an old-time soda siphon bottle ready for the occasional spritz, and, of course, a few perfectly paired tapas on the side.
